Summer Guide Favorites

May 16, 2023

It’s that time of year again! We’re rolling out our favorite products from your Summer Guide – products we think will help boost brand recognition for your business.
Brenda
26247 | Collapsible Picnic Basket (page 2)
I have a very similar basket and I love it. Not only is it great for taking things to picnics, potlucks and award banquets but I haul it back and forth to family get togethers. It has a low minimum of 24 pieces and a built in bottle opener as well.
WHO-DB22 | Daybreak Digital Alarm Clock Sunrise Simulation (page 8)
Sunrise simulation transitions the light from dark to fully lit over a 20 minute duration leading up to the alarm time selected. The light source is designed to mimic natural dawn or morning light. Unlike traditional alarms that typically jolt people awake with a burst of loud, disorienting noise, dawn simulators can “enhance the wake up experience”.
100928-XXX | Happy Daylight Desk Lamp (page 12)
This daylight lamp is designed with 3 colors of light that will provide you with your daily boost of sunshine to help keep you energetic and focused. Sunlight regulates the cycles of our bodies and our moods. With people spending more time indoors these days, it’s important to make sure our bodies get what they need, and this daylight lamp is here to shine some light for you.
WDQ-L | Discovery 14 oz. Tumbler (page 19)
This 14 oz. double wall tumbler is made with innovative recycled materials to reduce waste. Air insulation creates a highly portable spill proof cup. Logos will stand out using their silver mirror precision laser engraving.
SBZSBS | ZipSip Tall Dye Sublimated Neoprene Can Cooler (page 20)
The world’s first adjustable drink holder. The cooler features two zippers with a canvas gusset adjusting to fit different size beverages. Holds slim cans, regular cans, long neck bottles, coffee drinks, pint glasses, energy drinks and solo cups.
30064 | Anywhere Belt Bag (page 22)
I have never been thrilled with fanny packs but I like the cross overs. This particular one can be worn as a fanny pack or across the chest, has a zipper main compartment, back zippered pocket and a 40” adjustable strap. Available in black, gray and navy blue at this time. Eventually should have in an additional 7 colors.

Erica
1805 | Storm Guard Water Resistant Backpack (page 6)
A must have for every college student! It is a great gift for incoming college students at orientation. Today’s kids are carrying expensive laptops for their college courses and certainly don’t need the expensive technology to get ruined. Also good for throwing in your backpack for hiking trips.
OM212BB | Microwavable Bowl Buddy (page 8)
Every household should have more than one of these—at least one per person. It helps protect hands from getting burned when heating up food in the microwave. The bowl buddy is large enough it could also be a plate buddy. The bowl buddy makes a nice gift. Also great for a bowl of ice cream.
FLT014 | Featherlite Universal Seat Belt (page 10)
This is a great feeling piece. When you’re short and your husband likes to have the seat belt all the way to the top – your neck has a tendency to get scratched. I really like this piece. Also great for golf and shoulder bags.
2010 | Stone State Paperweight (page 12)
These paperweights make a special award piece that can be given as a thank you for years of service or a retirement gift. The item is USA made right here in Iowa. Made from recycled materials in over 95 colors and a variety of patterns.
JT2 | Boogie Board® Writing Tablet™ | Compass Promos (page 12)
Reusable tablet is perfect for jotting down notes, lists and reminders. What’s nice about the Boogie Board is that it comes with an app to download notes/names/numbers, etc. that can be sent to the app on your phone or other smart device.
87-RP | Cord Buddy (page 21)
Help organize their cords! The cord buddy is perfect for a company with a fun or unique logo. It is less expensive than doing a custom stress reliever if trying to stay within a budget. A custom backer card can be created to help solidify a specific message such as launching a new product or website.

Personal Care Promos

May 4, 2023

Over the last few years we’ve all learned how important it is to prioritize self care! We have products that take care of your customers and give back to others.

Here are a few reasons to add Personal Care Products to your mix:

1. Repetition. Personal Care products evoke all of your senses. When you hand out personal care products, you are are opening a door to allow recipients to experience your event/activity repeatedly every time they use that product.
2. Longevity and Usefulness. Personal care products are used anywhere from 2-10 times a day and will last anywhere from 3-12 months. You will not find this longevity and usefulness with other products for the same cost. Your  Message/Brand will be with the recipient for nearly a year.
3. Health and Wellness. During the pandemic, we learned that we must take care of ourselves to lead happier lives. When you hand out Personal Care products, you are telling your audience that you care about their health and wellness. This message carries a lot of weight in the eyes of the recipients.

Our suppliers have give-back programs that donate proceeds to local farmers, their community and honeybees. A percentage of annual profits for these items go back to support honeybees and beekeeping families.

Lessons to Learn from the Leading Ladies of Iowa Basketball

April 27, 2023

I’m a proud University of Iowa Women’s Basketball season ticket holder, so you can imagine I was disappointed with the outcome of the national championship game. When I started at Bankers in the fall of 2021 I was new to Iowa City and still trying to find my place in the community. One day at work your Old Sage, Bill Bywater, had extra tickets for a basketball game that he wasn’t able to use. I jumped at the opportunity for a night out at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. My fiancé has been an Iowa fan since birth, but I’m an Iowa State class of ’21 grad and was unsure about this whole “Hawkeye thing.” Little did I know that first game was going to change so much of my life. I fell in love with women’s basketball and this team. My fiancé and I didn’t miss another game that season and signed up to be season ticket holders for the 2022-2023 season. I was lucky enough to see our same five starters for the last two years. They’re a force to be reckoned with and I’m so proud of the year the team has had. I love my alma mater, but you can consider me a full-fledged Hawkeye now. For the first time in program history, our women’s team made it to the NCAA championship game. While the outcome wasn’t what Iowa fans were hoping for, the Hawkeyes reached many milestones and broke records in ways that haven’t been seen before. Carver-Hawkeye Arena holds up to 15,000 fans. This team sold it out for the NCAA tournament first and second round in 53 minutes. As a team they were Big 10 Tournament Champs and named a #2 seed in the NCAA tournament. The Women’s NCAA championship game sold out even with Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in town. Even better, ticket prices for the women’s championship were more expensive than the men’s this year. That’s a major milestone.

Caitlin Clark averaged 31.8 points per game and scored 191 total points in the NCAA tournament. The previous record was 177 by Sheryl Swoopes in 1993 for women and 184 by Glen Rice in 1989 for men. Caitlin had 60 total assists which was a new record for women (men’s record is 61). In the game against Louisville, she dropped 41 points/10 rebounds/12 assists making her the first player in NCAA tournament history (men’s or women’s) with back-to back 40-point triple doubles. Caitlin and Monika Czinano both surpassed 2,000 career points this year. It was the first time in Big Ten history that it’s been done in the same season by teammates. McKenna Warnock also exceeded 1,000 career points, making her one of only eight Iowa women’s players to reach this goal.

I might be a bit biased and want to shout their successes from the rooftops, but there is something you can learn from each Iowa player that will help lead you to success in any field:

Caitlin Clark – Leadership
Caitlin fearlessly leads her team on the court and they respect her because of the hard work she puts in. Iowa can count on her because she’s reliable and not afraid to take charge. When the team wins, she highlights her teammates’ accomplishments – with specifics and calling them out by name. When they lose, she takes responsibility and reinforces how proud she is of her team. A great leader spreads the wealth in good times and owns up to their mistakes that contribute to a loss in bad times.

Monika Czinano – Specialize in What You do Best
In the game against Georgia, Monika scored 20 points without dribbling the ball once. This was partly due to her teammates’ laser passes, superior coaching by assistant coach Jan Jensen, and the rest was due to her hard work in practice. A shirt was made that says, “Zero Dribbles, Zero Problems, Czinanooooo.” The drawing out of her last name represents how the announcer at home games affectionately yells her name when she scores a basket. That’s something I’m really going to miss next year. Major kudos to Monika for her selflessness and sportsmanship when she fouled out towards the end of the LSU game. It was her last game as a Hawkeye and her first instinct was to go to Addie and tell her “you’ve got this,” instead of being upset about the ref’s call.

McKenna Warnock – Be Aggressive in your Efforts
McKenna is a star three-point shooter but makes a big difference when it comes to rebounds and jump balls down in the paint. She’s not scared to get her hands dirty and fight for her team. The determination is clear to see on her face.

Gabbie Marshall – Mix it up, Make them Remember your Name
Gabbie is known for many things. Even being the “cute little one with the eyes, who is that?….Cute eyes, pretty eyes” (as she was referred to by Georgia’s coach). To start out the NCAA tournament, Gabbie was making three point baskets left and right. In fact, she made five in the game against Georgia. Her shooting percentage was higher than it had been all season. Her real grit came when the team was struggling to make shots in the last game against LSU. Gabbie shifted gears and locked in her outstanding defense as another way to help her team.

Kate Martin – Keep a Level Head
Kate has been referred to as “the glue for this team numerous times. She’s a senior coming back next year for her Covid year, so she has learned the patience and confidence that allows her to see the game from a level-headed perspective. She’s the first person to say a few motivating or reassuring words when her teammate messes up or is getting passionate on the court. She’s a rockstar when it comes to physical game-play, but her mental game is off the charts.

Molly Davis – Lay it all on the Line
Molly is a star player for many reasons, but possibly the most impressive is her dedication to finishing the play. She’s a reliable game changer and always makes her minutes count. Most notably in the Big 10 tournament against Ohio State when she sacrificed herself for a hard half court pass from Caitlin to make the layup. It’s a play I’ll not soon forget.

Sydney Affolter – Consistency
Sydney came in off the bench to play crucial minutes in tight games. She’s underrated for her ability to hit threes, free throws and make rebounds. I’m excited to see what’s in store for her next season.

Addie O’Grady – Get Up and Go!
Addie is going to be the next generation of Iowa Bigs for the 23-24 season when Monika is gone next year. She has been a consistent, unwavering back-up when our starters find themselves in foul trouble. She goes in and gets the job done, even when she is coming off the bench cold. That’s hard to do.

Hannah Stuelke – Stay Positive, Love what you Do
I have a “Happy Like Hannah” t-shirt for a reason. Hannah is a freshman this year and came out hot. She plays tough games with a smile on her face and it’s easy to see she loves the game of basketball.

Sharon Goodman – Be Your own Cheerleader
Sharon is known for being the first one to celebrate the team’s accomplishments from the bench. Her towel is always waving and letting her teammates know they did well. Sharon was also awarded for having the highest GPA out of all the players in the NCAA tournament final four. That’s something to be proud of.

Coach Lisa Bluder – Prep work
Lisa Bluder has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to basketball. This year we’ve really been able to see the impact her plays have in game situations. You may remember the last minute play to win the game against Indiana. The players worked to get open and Caitlin scored a three-pointer. It’s obvious that Coach has been putting in the time (credit to her staff as well) to create amazing plays that this team can execute.

I’m definitely biased, but there is so much to learn from this group of women and the way they play basketball. We know promos help create memories and now NCAA athletes can profit from their name, image and likeness. These shirts are  created when enough fans request shirts for a specific player and part of the money goes back to the player. If you love them like I do, you can find all of these shirts on the RAYGUN website and support them.

Backyard BBQ

April 21, 2023

May is national BBQ month. For my family, summer is all about grilling. I love getting together to eat good food and play yard games. Here are some promo ideas that I can see fitting right in at our family BBQs.

CB101-E | S’mores Dessert Charcuterie Board

S’mores are one of my favorite things about summer! This gift allows you to have your logo on the charcuterie board and cookies. Eco-friendly, charcuterie board is durable and made of pure bamboo. Biodegradable and dishwasher safe.

101391-001 | Cuisinart® Petite Tabletop Fire Bowl

This promo is perfect for small patios and outdoor areas. My parents have a similar one in their pavilion and we use it to stay warm on early or late summer nights, keep bugs away and make s’mores when we need a quick fix, but don’t have time for a big fire.

KM8416 | Perka® Kempton 40 oz. Stainless Steel Travel Mug

40 oz. tumblers are so popular right now! This mug is light weight and convenient to carry with its ergonomic handle. It has double wall vacuum insulated construction and copper lining to provide extra temperature retention. Any grill master needs these tools to be successful. Here they are all packaged together for a great gift. The BBQ set includes an apron, spatula, fork, tongs and oven mitt with salt and pepper shakers. WTV-SC22 | Stay Cool Spray Bottle & Fan

I’m a fair weather fan. If I’m going to stay outside on really hot days, this fan is a necessity. It’ll keep them cool at hot outdoor events with the spray bottle that lightly mists. The fan blades are made from soft pliable plastic for safe operation. The clear plastic water reservoir holds up to 11 oz. of liquid.

Super Bowl Success

February 13, 2023

Well, we finally know which team won the face off at Super Bowl 2023: the Kansas City Chiefs. Scrolling through social media in the wake of the qualifying games, we saw sports fans excited for the game and others sharing that they were only watching for the halftime show.

That’s the thing about the Super Bowl, isn’t it? Even if your team’s not in it, you watch. For many people, even if you don’t like football, you watch. It’s ubiquitous. It’s unavoidable. It’s classic. And, between the game, the halftime show, and the commercials, there really is something in it for everyone.

Wouldn’t it be great if your company could make those claims?

Well, that’s why we’re here: to help you leverage the marketing power of promotional products to deliver Super (Bowl) Successes – campaigns that are ubiquitous, unavoidable, and classic. Campaigns that catch the eye and draw people in, even if they’re loyal to a different brand. Even if they know nothing about the product.

Like the football game of games, a good promotional marketing campaign takes head-in-the-game hard work, like the players on the field. It takes a bold dash of creativity, like the halftime show. And it takes reaching out with humor and compassion for the part that people usually ignore in other contexts: the commercials, or, in our context, the ask.

So whether you were in it to root for the teams, to check out the Rihanna halftime show, or to laugh and cry at the commercials, remember that all three work together to draw in the over 110 million people who tune in every year. Bankers is here to work hard, get creative, make that ask – and deliver you Super (Bowl) Successes every time!

Branding Ideas for the Month of March

February 3, 2023

It’s almost time for March Madness… the time of year when even the ambivalent become invested in the outcome of college basketball games, and even those who actively dislike college basketball find other things to make guesses on in brackets, because the process is just that fun. If you’ve never filled out a bracket, it’s a 50/50 choice at every branching, narrowing a field of 64 down to one winner. Your odds aren’t great, but making the picks is entertaining, whether you’re basing your choice on the skills of the players or which team’s mascot looks fiercer!

According to a Smithsonian article, “you’re more likely to die an excruciating death by vending machine, become president, win the Mega Millions jackpot or die from incorrectly using products made for right-handed people (if you’re a lefty) than fill out a perfect NCAA basketball bracket.” In fact, according to Sports Illustrated, there’s no documentation that anyone has ever done so. Yet every year, ESPN reports, some 70 million brackets are filled out. With that much fun going on, it would be madness not to brand it! Great choices include pens or markers to fill out the brackets (nothing erasable!) or basketball stress balls for when the tensions get high. Check out these other great March ideas:

Brenda
#101462-XXX | Modern Sprout Rooted Candle (page 2)
I love the idea of this 2-in-one candle. This 6 oz. soy-blend scented candle not only gives you 42 hours of burn time (soy burns longer) but comes with a packet of seeds in a beautifully designed box for easy gifting. You have the choice of Sienna/Rosemary, Mustard/Lavender or Dark Teal/Thyme.

#WTV-PB22 | Power Breeze Rechargeable Mini Fan | Ariel (page 11)
This Mini Fan is lightweight, compact and has three fan speeds. It has a flip out stand for desk or table use and runs 2.5 hours on a single charge (depending on the speed you are using). It comes with a Micro USB power cable so you can keep it running daily or through the night. This would not only be a good addition for your desk but a nice travel piece as well.

Turnover Spatula
#R128 Silver Aluminum Handle, #W228 Black Resin Handle (page 15)

The Turnover has a 3 ¾” x 3 ¼” face, making it easier to flip burgers, chicken and fish. Also has slots to help drain the grease. It’s angled face and stability makes it easier when scooping up gooey brownies, warm cookies or sticky caramel rolls from pans. This product is made in the USA and covered by a Lifetime Guarantee.

#B819LE | 27 oz. Impulse Series Tumbler (page 19)
I’ve been using this tumbler for a few years now. It is stainless steel double walled and copper vacuum insulated to keep my drink cold all day. It has the narrow bottom which fits in my car’s cup holder. The straw is included for cold drinks and it has a nice thumb slide lid for drinking hot beverages. Comes packaged in a retail gift box. It’s available in pink, gray, black, seafoam and silver, all with a powder coat finish. This durable piece is also laser etched for a high end look.

#BGNW1811 | Bohemian Non-Woven Collapsible Tote (page 7)
I have several bags like this one. I like them for keeping blankets and umbrellas organized in the back of my car or hauling blankets, jackets, snacks and water bottles. I used them to haul presents to the different Christmases we had. The main compartment features a sturdy wire rim, giving the tote shape and the two 26” long web handles make it easy for carrying and free up your hands.

#BG6600 | Fleece/Nylon Picnic Blanket | The Magnet Group (page 4)
I really like the versatility of this product. People most often think of picnics, but the soft polar fleece is comfortable and warm. The water-resistant poly shell on the other side helps keep you dry. This blanket is great for sporting events, drive-in movies or just to keep in your trunk. It’s easy to fold up for convenient packing and storage and has a handle that makes carrying super easy! My son-in-law coaches the local high school girls tennis team and offered these with the school logo for all team members and fans. It was a great fundraiser for his program!

#H787 | Super-7 All-Week Pill Box | Bay State (page 6)
This product features seven, snap-tight lids, each screened with the day of the week (plus it’s inscribed with Braille letters). This one of my favorite items because it can be used for any business! Nine out of 10 consumers own promotional products and use them regularly. Your audience can use this helpful promo daily. It’s also great for pet medicine!

#CBP | Custom Back Playing Cards | Playing Cards on Demand (page 8)
With branded playing cards, what you’re holding in your hands are “mini” billboards, featuring full color process designs that allow for extreme creativity. Playing cards are great for tradeshow giveaways, branding projects, events, marketing collateral and more. Recipients will keep these and use them with family and friends. They are printed in the USA on high-quality, premium casino grade linen stock.

#S71446X | Bamboo Handle Whisk | WOW Line (page 15)
What’s better than a product that is useful, long lasting and appreciated?! Kitchen items remain one of the most popular because they meet all the criteria above. Adding sustainability only increases this item’s appeal. Reducing one’s carbon footprint is a movement that has been gaining (much needed) attention. The Bamboo is a sustainable material that is now trending!

2023 PANTONE Color of the Year!

January 12, 2023

Each year, the Pantone Color Institute selects a shade (or two) to represent not only what color is going to be popular in product design and fashion, but also represents the current state of the world. Using the evocative nature of color, the Color of the Year is a visual manifestation of where we’re at as a society, and what the next year looks like.

Viva Magenta was chosen for its bold sense of natural power, with red hues that give off senses of joy and visibility. After a few years of more subdued, lighter shades, Pantone is steering into bolder choices. The strong Viva Magenta is eye-catching and lends itself nicely to all sorts of applications across consumer products and branding identities.

Many campaigns are predicted to feature this shade in 2023. Vivid Magenta is bound to draw attention, so keep it in mind for your next campaign!
